This unit applies to the evaluation of equipment and systems in terms of their potential application for specific requirements in a TCF enterprise where judgement may be required in planning and selecting appropriate processes or procedures for self and others.
Activities can relate to existing or proposed new equipment and systems. They may involve:
identification of production requirements and associated tooling and machinery etc.
assessing and evaluating the equipment and systems
making recommendations and preparing reports
Work may be conducted in small to large scale enterprises and may involve individual and team activities.
The unit is applied according to OHS and workplace practices of the enterprise, which may include:
requirements prescribed by legislation, awards, agreements and conditions of employment
standard operating procedures
work instructions
oral, written and visual communication
quality practices, including responsibility for maintenance of own work quality, and contribution to quality improvement of team/section output
housekeeping
tasks related to environmental protection, waste disposal, pollution control and recycling
This unit requires the application of skills associated with planning and organising to ensure equipment meets production requirements. Communication skills will be used to interact with team members, interpret and evaluate data and technical information, and prepare reports and recommendations. This unit also requires problem solving ability to evaluate information and form recommendations relating to equipment use.
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to evaluate equipment and systems in terms of their potential application for specific requirements in a textiles clothing or footwear (TCF) workplace.
